EnvironmentThe United Nations reports that the past five years have seen the highest average global temperatures on record. Many of us have already experienced the effects of climate change in our communities, and the challenges associated with a warming planet will only become more difficult to address the longer we delay action.

To prevent warming beyond 1.5°C, we need to reduce emissions by 7.6% every year, and companies have a major role to play in ensuring that this happens.

Therefore, Cybolt has begun its work on measuring and reducing greenhouse gas emissions affiliated with our business operations. We aim to make our data centers carbon neutral by 2030.

In 2022, we formed our Environmental Working Group:

Raising awareness about environmental

Raising awareness about environmental sustainability within the company.

Overseeing the execution of Cybolt’s Environmental Action Plan.

Monitoring and evaluating the progress of greenhouse gas reduction and offsetting.

Human rightsTechnology as a Tool
Technology can be a tool for ensuring that fundamental rights and freedoms are respected and protected, but only when applied with a human rights perspective.

According to the United Nations Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights, companies have the responsibility to respect human rights and provide access to remedy when issues may arise. This includes companies of all sizes, sectors and nationalities, including Cybolt.

Cybolt respects all internationally recognized human rights. We strive to avoid infringing on the human rights of others and address adverse human rights impacts with which Cybolt is involved.

Cybolt’s Human Rights Policy
At Cybolt we dedicate our work to establishing and maintaining the trust of our clients by identifying, preventing and neutralizing risks.

Human Rights Priorities
In particular, Cybolt is working to uphold the right to privacy and the right to safety and security of person (both online and offline).
Cybolt’s work intersects with these rights in various ways, for example:

  • Cyberattacks are becoming more commonplace, sophisticated, and severe. When these attacks impact critical infrastructure, they can have detrimental impacts on our businesses, hospitals, and essential public services.
  • Unwarranted surveillance infringes on the right to privacy and can lead to other human rights violations, especially when information is used against activists and journalists.
  • Effectively utilizing open-source investigations and public safety technologies can aid in preventing and resolving incidents both online and offline. Through our tools and services, we strive to ensure that everyone can enjoy these rights.
  • Cybolt is deeply committed to non-discrimination, ensuring this principle is upheld within our workforce, workplace, and in the technological tools we implement.

Implementing our Policies:
Cybolt implements its ethics, anti-corruption and human rights policies by:

  • Ensuring that the staff are trained and familiar with human rights principles in theory and in practice.
  • Publicly/displaying clear governance processes.
  • Ensuring that senior management and board members are aligned with our human rights commitments.
  • Working to create a sense of shared responsibility for upholding these policies across the organization.
  • Continually carry out human rights due diligence and mitigate any identified risks.
  • Integrating lessons learned into relevant policies, standards and business practices to prevent the reoccurance of any issues.
  • Clearly communicating progress both internally and externally.

Conducting Due Diligence
When risks are identified (i.e. through a sales opportunity, through the whistleblower mechanism, or through developments in the technology features), each case is evaluated by the ESG committee. Conditional approvals include technical and/or contractual mitigations, and its implementation is monitored to ensure adherence.

Human Rights Impact Assessments
We identify and manage human rights issues in many ways, including Human Rights Impact Assessments (HRIA), stakeholder consultations, and internal review processes.

Training and Awareness Raising
Cybolt’s staff have open access to online trainings and an independent human rights consultant who supports them with questions or issues that relate to any given business unit. Staff in key positions are required to pass the online trainings which cover the following topics:

  • The business and human rights framework according to international human rights law.
  • Cybolt’s commitments to human rights and means of implementing those commitments.
  • Cybolt’s salient human rights issues.
  • Adapted human rights training is also offered to partners and clients.

Labor Rights and Safety of Staff
Cybolt is working to ensure that the principles concerning fundamental rights set out in the International Labour Organization’s Declaration on Fundamental Principles and Rights at Work are fully respected. The People department, with the support of the ESG Committee, is responsible for carrying out any necessary initiatives or policy changes concerning labor rights and safety so that they are in accordance with the above principles and the UN Guiding Principles in general.
